I have been an Independent Certified Instructor of Baby Signs® programs since 2014 and have been providing classes in the WNY area since 2016.
As a Speech Therapist, I have incorporated the use of manual sign-language into many of my therapy sessions when working in school settings. Most of the schools I have worked in provide services to children with developmental disabilities and Autism. I have witnessed first hand the benefits of giving a voice to those who are unable to speak but can learn basic signs to communicate their needs and wants.
I grew up in the WNY area and attended the University at Buffalo for both my undergraduate and Masters degrees. My husband and I have been married for over a decade and we have two children at home. And yes, we do use the Baby Signs® Program at our house (though my husband has asked me if I'm sure about using it again because now we have a preschooler who literally does NOT stop talking!)
Honestly, though, using the program at home was one of our best parenting decisions and we continue to see the benefits from teaching signs early on.
